The V&S MISSION

At Guelph Voice & Speech Therapy Corp., we believe every voice deserves to be heard—clearly, confidently, and without barriers. Our mission is to empower individuals navigating communication and swallowing disorders, including stuttering, hoarse voice, and social communication, by providing compassionate, personalized therapy that prioritizes effective, compassionate care. We are committed to ensuring no one gets left behind, offering tailored support for social skills training, workplace communication challenges, and fear of public speaking. Through individual counseling and evidence-based strategies, we help clients reclaim their ability to connect, communicate, and thrive in every aspect of life.

Guiding Principles

Accessible Care for All

We reject the notion that quality speech therapy should be a luxury. By keeping our services affordable and implementing sliding-scale payment options, we break down financial barriers that often prevent individuals from seeking help. Our clinicians dedicate time to understanding each client’s unique needs, whether they’re struggling with a hoarse voice impacting their self-esteem or a child struggling to make friends. This commitment extends to underserved communities through partnerships with local schools and workplaces, ensuring equitable access to transformative care.

Holistic, Client-Centered Approaches

Communication challenges rarely exist in isolation. Our therapy programs integrate techniques for stuttering management, voice rehabilitation, and anxiety reduction, recognizing how these issues intersect with broader life goals. For example, a client overcoming fear of public speaking might engage in simulated workplace scenarios, while a teenager with social communication difficulties participates in group sessions that blend role-playing and real-world practice. We foster lasting confidence by addressing communication's technical and emotional dimensions.

Advocacy and Community Building

Beyond individual sessions, we advocate for systemic change—challenging workplace stigma against speech differences and promoting inclusive policies in educational settings. Weekly blogs such as “Navigating Workplace Communication Barriers” and workshops on “Supporting Loved Ones with Stuttering” create collective learning and empowerment. These initiatives reflect our belief that progress happens in therapy rooms and through community-wide dialogue and education.

Innovation Meets Compassion

Our team stays at the forefront of speech therapy research, adopting cutting-edge tools like biofeedback for voice rehabilitation or virtual reality for public speaking simulations. Yet technology never overshadows the human connection. Clinicians undergo rigorous training in trauma-informed care, ensuring clients feel safe and respected during vulnerable moments of growth. This balance of innovation and empathy allows us to deliver exceptional outcomes while honoring each person’s experiences.

The V&S Promise

Walking through our doors, you join a community dedicated to your success. We measure our impact not by profit margins but by the breakthroughs we achieve together—the first fluent presentation delivered at work, the restored voice that rekindles a passion for singing, or the child who finally shares their thoughts without frustration. Every step forward is a testament to resilience, and every voice matters. Let us help you find yours.

CHRIS DUNPHY,
M.CL.SC., S-LP

Speech-Language Pathologist

With over a decade of experience as a Speech Pathologist, and as a professional singer and recording artist, my mission extends beyond clinical boundaries to empower individuals to communicate confidently, whether through speech or song. My unique position at the intersection of speech pathology and the performing arts allows me to bring a comprehensive understanding of voice mechanics to my clients, enriching their therapy experience.

Working with people across all walks of life has shown me the profound impact that voice and speech disorders can have on one's social engagement and self-esteem. This understanding drives my commitment to fostering trust and building strong, supportive relationships with my clients, laying the groundwork for significant progress.

Clients often express surprise at how a small amount of therapy can improve their daily lives. I attribute this success to our client-centred approach, tailoring each session to meet individual needs and leveraging my background in music and performance to enrich therapy outcomes.

My educational foundation includes a Master of Clinical Science from the University of Western Ontario's School of Communication Sciences and Disorders, with additional training in mental health and addictions from the G. Raymond Chang School of Continuing Education. However, it's my hands-on experience with clients, combined with my passion for music and performance, that truly shapes my practice. Inspired by the strength and resilience of those I work with, I've dedicated myself to helping individuals not only speak and sing with confidence but also boost their self-esteem and improve their overall quality of life. Let's connect and discover how we can unlock your full communication potential together.
